We open with Iris at the window again, wincing as Tom unloads fence posts that look far too heavy for ordinary life. But there’s comfort in the rhythm that follows—dig, wiggle, pull—and in the way small conversations come easier when hands are busy. Tom shares a little more of his story (born local, left, returned), and Iris discovers that sore muscles can still feel like progress.

And of course, Little Darlow doesn’t stay quiet for long: Mr Pritchard arrives with soup and cake, gossip about Tom’s past drifts in through the baker and Lorna, and the fence repair turns into something communal—watched, documented, and quietly cheered on.
